The word Almazara (mills for making olive oil) comes from the Arabic المعصرة (al-ma’sara), Its name Al-Masara “the press” derives from the Byzantine Empire era, olive press.

La Almazara Molino del Motrotón sited in Turis (Valencia) was founded in 1924. It is a second grade cooperative with a total amount of 139.000 olive trees distributed in 2400 Ha. and more than 2.100 farmers who care olive grove carefully. The process to extract the extra virgin olive oil is elaborated employing the most advanced equipment allowing a 60.000 Kg olives grinding per day with a storage capacity of 650.000 litres. It is considered of great importance within the Food and Agricultural section due to the prizes handed in.
